Free write: Superman

Man of Steel was so hype you don't even know. The acting sucked so bad but half the movie was a superman fight scene so that definitely made up for it. Superman is the most basic and unoriginal superhero but it doesn't even matter. He probably ended up killing 10,000+ people and didn't even care until he had to hill some family. There coming out with a Batman vs. Superman movie and like seriously I heard Batman wins, even a whole bunch of times in the comic books. Like Superman is basicly immortal and unbreakable. Killing Batman would be so easy.

Free write: Religion

Man these past couple months have been crazy for me. I have no idea what I'm doing in life or what I’m going to do but I just go where the breeze takes me. I’ve never been a religious dude but lately I think I’ve found myself and what I want to follow. My parents have always believed in god and always have had a strong influence on me but I never really had faith. I believe faith is just based off geography. I looked into synagogues, churches, cathedrals, and Buddhist temples lately.  I read the first and new testaments and was still not interested in any faith of those religions. I am very tolerant of religion but I have found Buddhism. I don’t believe in reincarnation or finding Nirvana. I want to focus on myself to be a better person and to have less materialistic things. I sound like a hippy but fighting over beliefs is just stupid and people need to chill out. So many lives have been lost do to all this hate ignorance and religion. Although I do respect religion I don’t respect the intolerance of some.  Sometimes you want to make the world a better place. Humanity is pretty crazy and weird.

We are all the Same

October 28, 2013
“History” said Joyce’s Dedalus is a nightmare from which I am trying to wake. But we do not awake. Though we constantly make a heroic attempt to rise to a level ethnically superior to nature, our own nature, again and again we suffer a fall- brought low by some outburst of madness because of the limiting defects inherent in our species. (Baker xv)

Due to our own imperfect features as humans we are limited to a certain extent, either physically, mentally, and politically. As humans our bones can only take so much weight, our minds can only endure so much pain, and it is extremely hard to amount to political power. Many humans have steeped above most, taking power, but not being able to control their own characteristics or decisions which are a downfall. For example, Hitler is no hero, but his personal decision to attack the Russians took probably the biggest role on why he lost the war, not to mention economical fragmentation. Everyone wants to amount over everyone else, and we/you can do it, but the chances are extremely unlikely to succeed, let alone to succeed for an exceeded amount of time due to our lack of ‘perfect’ qualities. We must be able to control and conquer ourselves mentally, which most or all people cannot do. As humans we strive for success, we strive to be better, we strive to be powerful. Rich or poor we all have the same goal, but ourselves hold us back from making it and staying.

Without Jonathan Swift Satire would not exist. Satire is probably the most powerful and controversial topic in literature. Satire is the use of literature exposing people’s ignorance or stupidity.  Jonathan Swift’s masterful piece of work A Modest Proposal gladly shows huge examples of satire. There are many extreme layers of depth in this work with satire.  "I grant this food may be somewhat dear and therefore very proper for Landlords, who as they have already devoured most of the Parents, seem to have the best Title to the Children."(Swift 13) Swift being very ironic have described the English who rule over them, who not only have taken thousands of lives in the revolutionary wars but have made them suffer, putting them into poverty and in the streets. If they have taken the older men and women, why not the children? The satire in this is to point out how crude and evil the English are, not caring about the people if they get what they want.

Swifts satire has inspired many satirical shows after A Modest Proposal such as South park, Saturday Night Live, and The Daily show, pointing out multiple flaws in the society we live in today. A great example of satire using mockery and irony would be The Daily Show’s Finger Pointing Game http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-september-19-2012/9-19-12-in--60-seconds. The Daily show interviews several different people at a political convention. As the reporter asks a man what the parties should do he says they should come together and cooperate more. But when approached about what the people should do about specific problems he blames the other party pointing fingers. The reporter also keeps pointing mocking him while he does not even realize it. The mockery was both persons finger pointing without the man being questioned did not realize what the other is doing. The irony is that the interviewed man says the parties should come together but blames the other for anything going wrong.

Another great example of Satire would be South Parks”F*ck me”. The ill of society was to show the attitude of modern day of American children, showing their attitude as if the world owes them something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eBYLTnI1po&safe=active The 8 year old child Eric Cartman felt as if his mom owed him a brand new ipad because his friends had one, despite the fact he nor his mom cannot afford it financially. It shows how most modern day American kids being extremely greedy despite the fact they did not earn/work for the item. South Park satire is very humorous while A Modest Proposal has much more of a darker tone and item. As the South Park may not be a more “serious” problem society, satire was made to point it out.

Ignorance is Bliss

While the lack of ignorance in humans isn't surprising, this satire project has given me a broader outlook on how I view people and specific shows (Daily Show, South Park etc.) Peoples ignorance will never vanish but it is always a good effort to point right from wrong. I think no one really appreciates but notices more dark satire then anything, such as Johnathan Swift's "A Modest  Proposal." It pointed out with ignorance people had, without giving you a laugh, making it darker, deeper, and uncomfortable. My favorite Satire example from the presentations may have been Family Guy's "Visiting Ground Zero" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpP7b2lUxVE. It represented most Americans ignorance about being mad about an event that most do not know the reasons, motives, or who did it.

Satire

Satire is a comedic way to point out the flaws in our society or even specific persons, that could be based off of beliefs, race, gender etc. Not only is it a a comedic way to point out but gives constructive criticism on the certain flaws we have. Many television shows use satire as there comedy, such as south park or family guy, pointing out the flaws right under our noses with out even realizing it. "Fools are my theme, let satire be my song." -Lord Bryon. The quote is self-explanatory. Satire is making fun of someone, pointing out there flaws and whats wrong.
"First make people laugh, and then make them think."-Ig Nobel Prize Organizers. Satire is not always meant to make people laugh. Satire can also be used in serious discussions such as politics, religion, and art using forms of irony and burlesque. In the book Nine-teen Eighty four, the book can be viewed in a Juvenalian satirical style, with less pressure on humor but more in a political spectrum. Many people who do not understand satire may often get satire confused with teasing.Satire is to point out the flaws in us and others being used through wit, sarcasm, exaggeration, and irony. Teasing is usually just made to point fun or hurt. Horation satire is usually used in most mainstream things such as comedy's (colbert report, family guy.) Horation is much more common and very gentle, not serious.

cudi gawwwd

I was lucky enough to get front row and I have to say the concert was a once in a lifetime chance.
King Chip- He was the first to come out. Overall he was decent and got the crown hyped but nothing impressive. He decided to wear a raiders jacket in which people kept chanting broncos but he kept going till his time was up (Raiders and broncos are big time rivals). No impressive performance but most definitely fun.
Logic- Not only him but his own DJ were amazing and got the crowd so pumped. Logic started to freestyle some fat beats and it was just too crazy. He was promoting positivity and you could just feel the it

in the atmosphere. Awesome rapper and awesome guy in general!
Juicy J- He brought the songs that everyone can bump and even brought some old three six mafia jams back it. He almost ended up giving and $50,000 gold chain (his words) to some girls and tried to have people smoke a blunt with him and even drink champagne. Super funny and nice guy on the stage!
EarlWolf: I love Tyler and Earl but they kind of came off as turds. He called me nasty in front of the whole crowd and said people need to start wearing shirts like me (tiger printed with "golf" on the front") and my girlfriend and earl stuck each other’s tongues at each other. They got the crowd hyped and laughing though! My friend and I, Ryan, before the show though and he said "nice to meet you assholes" and we shook his hand.

Kid Cudi
Cudi: Hands down the best performance I have ever seen. He not only had the crowd singing along and having a good time but he was smiling and just gave a great vibe and had such awesome energy. He was better than any other performance that night. He looked me in the eye and smiled and I did the same back and it felt like eternity even though it was for 3 seconds or less (Kid Cudi and I now have a thing.) Later when we were all singing along he stopped and pointed at me saying "yeah thats right!" He even took some seconds for us to respect the people who have lost their lives and property in Colorado because of the flood so I thought that was really cool of him.

Walter White is Going Dark

“An abyss is the lowest part of a person/heroes journey. It is the place of darkness and a place to face (metaphorical) monsters.  Once the “dragon is slayed” transformation occurs”

I don’t really know how to explain this without giving an example. Like the hunger games when Katniss saves Peeta and kills the last people. But she goes through her transformation when she is about to kill herself with Peeta, knowing how much their lives have value. The transformation phase occurs in every hero’s journey. Another example I can give is like in Breaking Bad. At first Walter White can succeed in getting the money for his family before he dies, but his transformation is different. He knows he can get the money, but his life went on a roller coaster from down to up to down. He had cancer and dying but he won’t stop getting money from the meth, He wants more and more as his family falls apart. He’s not a good man anymore, just a dead beat who is killing himself inside, as well as his family.

I NEEDA HERO

“Whether you call someone a hero or a monster it is all relative to where the focus of your consciousness may be” -Joseph Campbell
When I hear the word hero I think of my Dad. A hero is a person who put’s people’s lives in front of their own, no matter the situation. A hero is willing to put their life on the line for others even if they don’t know them. My dad is one of those men. He’s not perfect but he will always be a hero in my eyes.  Batman is pretty cool too, I mean in that new movie he took out that nuclear bomb out and risked his life. You gotta admit that was pretty heroic and tight.

BASED WORLD
TO RARE

One of the things I would like to elaborate is the song Ellen DeGeneres by Lil B the Based God. This single video describes my life in a nutshell. When you hear Ellen DeGeneres what words pass by in your head? Usually they would be “swag” or “brang dang dang ,” because she goes to hard.   Being like Ellen DeGeneres isn’t just a saying; it’s a way of life. Not only is it about being generous but also having your girlfriend to look like Ellen. The video clearly depicts that Ellen’s life is fun and a big party.

**This Song Wasn't Meant to be Clean**

The best part of life some say is "keeping it 3hunna." You may be going 100 hundred percent, but me and my crew? We are literally going going three hundred percent. Your body and mind has to be giving it all three hundred percent of the day. Giving up is never an option, winning is the only thing that matters in life.

The best experience of my life so far has been playing rugby. It makes me feel more alive and able to do things. It's given me the ability to make new connections with people, drop weight and find my favorite sport/hobby. I have been also extremely lucky to be able to be skilled at the game and have a decent chance of getting a scholarship for it. The culture behind rugby is rich and one of a kind and everyone should experience it once in their lifetime. It's much better then football without sitting in the blistering sun with heavy thick pads on (at least football players can relate.)
